Alpine-X Rendering

It remains to be seen whether Alpine-X LLC will ultimately get to build Fairfax Peak, its proposed, $200 million flagship indoor snow sports facility atop a capped landfill in Fairfax County, but the McLean company is already looking to export the concept other parts of the U.S. nonetheless.

Led by former Great Wolf Resorts Inc. executives John Emery and Jim Calder, Alpine-X is planning more than 20 locations based on the premise that there’s substantial untapped demand from fans of skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing that are forced to put away their gear as winter yields to spring.
