Proposed indoor ski slope at I-95 landfill would be longest in North America
LORTON, Va. – The longest indoor ski slope in North America may be coming to Fairfax County. Even more unusual is its proposed location: the inactive landfill beside I-95.
Two years ago, Virginia-based holding company Alpine-X presented Fairfax County with its proposed recreational destination property, which includes skiing and snowboarding accommodations and a 100-room luxury hotel; all on top of the landfill that’s been inactive since the 1990s.
